ABOUT THE TEAM

Toronto Celtic F.C. is a men's senior football club that plays in the TSSL Second Division based in Toronto, Canada. The squad is a mix of Canadians and immigrants.

The club was founded on February 25, 2010. Previously the club had been known as Downtown Celtic and last season went by the name Fionn MacCool's Celtic. After a collective decision was made in early 2010, to reorganise the foundations of the club with an elected committee, the club agreed to the new name of Toronto Celtic F.C.

The clubs first notable moment of success came in the 2007 season, when it made it to the semi-finals of the Division Cup, before losing out on a place in the final following a defeat on penalties to Sierra Stars. In the following 2008 season the club won their first piece of silverware, by winning the Media Division Cup. The title was clinched with a 2-1 victory over Campbell Soup following goals from David Lyloff and Mark Fitzpatrick.

In 2009 Desmond Tibby was appointed manager after David McGoarty decided to step down. In Tibby's inaugural season, the club clinched it first league title, winning the Media Division by goal difference on the last of the season over KU Golden Oldies.
